Ten Uses for Paper Bags

Paper bags are not just for bringing lunches to school or the office. They are useful for a host of other things as well:
- Clean artificial flowers by placing them in a paper bag with 1/4 cup of salt. Shake gently for a few minutes.
- Use a large paper bag to clean your dust mop. Just place the mop head inside the bag and close the opening with a rubber band or string. Shake it up. W ait a few minutes to let the dust settle before opening.
- Place some flowers inside a jar wrapped with a paper bag. Tie brown string around the opening to secure the bag and give the arrangement a rustic charm.
- Use large brown bags to store and carry newspapers for recycling.
- Cut open a large paper bag and use it on your countertop when peeling vegetables, husking corn, etc. Clean up is as easy as folding up the paper with the peels inside.
- Ripen fruits faster by placing them in a paper bag with a ripe apple or a banana peel. Store at room temperature.
- Spray-paint small items placed inside a paper bag to prevent messes.
- In areas with high humidity, bread will stay fresh longer if stored in a paper bag rather than a plastic one.
- Keep matching sheets and pillowcases together in a large paper bag.
- Cover books with a large paper bag that has been opened up at the seams. Display several books covered in this way on your bookshelf.
