Secrets of Organized Families

Organized Pantry by MaxOrganizeSome people are born organized and neat. Alas, I’m not one of them. I have to work at getting and keeping things in order. That’s why articles such as ParentCenter’s “Secrets of organized families: Insider strategies for getting your house in order” are such a magnet for me. I want to know their secrets!

S. Jhoanna Robledo reveals how these families keep up with busy schedules, while keeping clutter at bay. First there are the basics. There are a ton of tips to get anyone started. In order to keep ahead, for example, keep the following in mind:

Build organization into your daily routine. No matter how efficient an organizing system you establish, your home will need periodical upkeep. “Some people expect their houses to look like a Pottery Barn catalog,” says Sarasohn. “But the one thing that’s constant in households with children is change. Schedules shift, habits change, and the house will sometimes look messy.” Rather than throw up your hands in the face of the encroaching chaos, find ways to build regular household maintenance into your routine.

I know I need to work on that!

There are also tips for organizing the entryway, kitchen, kids’ bedrooms, adult’s bedroom, bathroom, home office and family room.

Depending on how organized (or not) you are, you can pick and choose which among these ideas would work for you. Don’t be discouraged if it seems that there are so many things that need to be done. Start simple and slowly. Encourage yourself with a reminder that you are doing some things right, even if it’s just one thing. Even if it’s just always keeping your keys in one place, it’s a start!
