Review: One-Click Butter Cutter

Greasy butter dishes and knives will soon be things of the past, if the One-Click Butter Cutter finds its way into each home’s kitchen. This little gizmo promises to do away with the mess and to serve pats of butter neatly and consistently. Basically, it:
- holds and slices butter with a squeeze
- is safe for children to use! Slices can be cut and dispensed with one or two hands.
- uses less refrigerator shelf space
- keeps butter clean
- keeps hands clean
- seldom needs washing
- easily cleaned in a dishwasher or in warm water
- cut slices individually as wanted or cut an entire stick of butter into slices in less than one minute!
- tastefully replaces the ever-greasy butter dish
I found that the One-Click Butter Cutter pretty much does all these things, with some caveats. Sometimes the slices don’t drop cleanly once they’re cut. I had to shake them off, and even poke them free once in a while. The clicks are also pretty loud, which could be distracting if you’re dining with other people around a table. And, it didn’t work on butter substitutes like soy margarine, which has a softer consistency than real butter. The margarine simply got smooshed and stuck together instead of being sliced off neatly.
Everything considered, the One-Click Butter Cutter is a useful gadget that butter and toast lovers would enjoy having in their kitchen. It comes in 6 colors. You can see a video of how it works here.
