Review of the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner

by Maricar on September 5th, 2006

Automatic shower cleanerI’ve seen the commercials for the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner, and have been tempted many times to buy it. But since reading this review by James Lower of Associated Content, I’ve had to think twice. Lower rated the device 3.3 out of 5, and called it “a wasteful and short-lived novelty”.

Here are his 10 reasons why you shouldn’t buy it:

1. It takes up too much valuable space.
2. The rotating sprayer doesn’t reach much higher than chest level, and leaves large areas untouched.
3. It’s expensive.
4. The shower is cleaned unevenly, with the back wall “gleaming”, but the other walls coming short of clean.
5. Surfaces are cleaned in streaks, instead of in uniform mists.
6. It requires batteries, which need to be replaced regularly.
7. The cleaner is currently available in only one scent.
8. The beeps that signal activation can be annoying, and could cause bathers to hurriedly scramble over slippery tubs.
9. The novelty wears off easily.
10. The device can’t take the place of good old-fashioned wall scrubbing.

Do you have the Automatic Shower Cleaner? Do you agree with Lower’s views?

My sister bought it (it was available at Sam’s Club for a while) b/c the shower in her attic apartment has odd shapes and angles, or something. Anyway, she likes it. But she is a novelty fanatic. :D

Thanks for sharing, Kerri. It’s good to know that someone gives the Automatic Shower Cleaner a good review. I guess for an odd-shaped shower, the effort it saves is worth it.
