Review: Cascade Complete

The latest product that I tested is the Cascade Complete detergent for automatic dishwashers. I received a 75 oz bottle for review, along with a similar sized bottle of a competing brand.
Cascade Complete’s claim is that it “cleans so well, there’s no need to pre-wash”. So, I tested this claim with all sorts of food bits left on the plates. I did remove large pieces of food, simply by scraping them off. But I’ve left spaghetti sauce, pasta bits, and miscellaneous food particles. I really wanted to test the limit of this detergent, and see how clean my dishes come out in the end.
After countless cycles and close scrutinies of the dinnerware, I can say that, in terms of clean results, Cascade Complete has so far been the best detergent I’ve ever tried. That’s not to say it’s been perfect. There have been misses, like tiny bits of food (mostly from rice) still left here and there in a couple of runs of the dishwasher I’ve done. But overall, it’s been very good. Dishes have come out sparklingly shiny (in fact, the shiniest they’ve ever been).
This is a pretty strong detergent that contains enzymes, and I would advise those who want to use it to be careful in handling it. This is specially important if there are small children in the house. You should always keep cleaning agents under safety locks, anyway, and this is definitely no exception. I’ve also been very careful to keep my curious tots away from the dishwasher when I’m loading the detergent in the wells.

I’ve always been happy with the Cascade tabs I use in my diswasher.

I was using generic Costco granulated dishwasher detergent with fair to poor results, and on a friend’s recommendation switched to Cascade complete. It works so well it’s like I have a new dishwasher. No specs on the dishes and they are smooth and shiny. I’m constantly amazed how well it works.
