Practical Tips for Everyday Living, Nos. 9 to 11
Here are some more practical tips I’ve picked up.
Tip #9: Stock up on these items
I make sure we never run out of these things at home:
sugar
salt
toothpaste
bathroom tissue
extra light bulbs
Tip #10: Freeze leftover herbs
When I buy fresh herbs at the grocery, I usually don’t use them all up at once. So I cut up (or chop) the leftovers, place them in freezer bags and store them in the freezer for later use. They go well in soups and salads. What’s more, they’re ready to use so I save time. So far, I know this works for green onions and parsley. I also have dill but I haven’t used that yet. Celery doesn’t freeze well because of its high water content.
Tip #11: Freshen up at work
If you’re going to work long hours and don’t have a place to shower, bring along a toothbrush, some soap, and a clean pair of socks. To freshen up and renew your energy, brush your teeth, wash your face and change your socks.
These tips will also be in the page “Practical Tips for Everyday Living“. Happy homemaking!

You can also take your fresh basil, and make pesto with it and freeze it. I’ll freeze in ice cube trays, and then crack them into larger bags. Sometimes one or two “cubes” is just what’s needed to add a little flavor to something that you’re making.

I’ve had success with just chopping up celery and carrots and freezing them together. Then they’re ready to just throw into a soup.
