Make Your Own Cards

by Maricar on May 16th, 2005

With the cost of greeting cards these days, I’ve taken it upon myself to make our own using scrapbooking materials I already have at home. (For more on scrapbooking, visit The Scrapbooking Blog). Over the weekend, I was able to make 10 in less than an hour. I used good-quality cardstock made by Georgia Pacific ($6/150 sheets) and stickers leftover from previous scrapbooking projects. Using half of an 8.5 x 11 sheet of cream cardstock, I made the card above as follows:

1. Fold the card in half.
2. Attach the sticker frame to front of card, making sure that the edges are fairly level.
3. Attach the accent sticker to a piece of orange cardstock and trim to leave thin borders.
4. Attach the accent to the card with foam tape to add dimension.

The card can be stamped (see The Stamping Blog for more on stamping) or handwritten with sentiments to make it suitable for a birthday, thank you, get well soon or just to say hello. I left it blank on purpose so that I can customize it as the occasion arises. For envelopes, I’m going to use white invitation envelopes that can be bought in 100-pc boxes at any office supply store.

Check out these other cards I made, for less than 10 cents each! Le chic, le cheap!
