Make Your Kitchen Work for You
“The most efficient kitchens stick to the basics”. Thus says Denise Cornellier, a caterer and cooking school owner from Montreal. The key to having a more efficient and less cluttered kitchen is not to have a lot of stuff. Here are some tips to make your kitchen work more efficiently:
* Avoid single-purpose tools, like an egg poacher or rice cooker (unless you cook a lot of rice, like I do).
* Don’t buy the latest kitchen gadget, if you don’t know how you’ll use it, or where to store it.
* Get rid of anything that hasn’t been used in a year.
* If you use an item only once or twice a year, store it in the basement or garage.
* Label everything.
* Create zones based on activities like baking. Store similar items together.
* Divide your storage space with containers like plastic bins and shelves.
