How to Clean a Steam Iron

Here’s how to clean a steam iron, so that it doesn’t stick to fabrics:
If your iron has brown spots on the plate, those are mineral deposits that keep the iron from gliding smoothly over clothes. Remove the spots with a mixture of heated vinegar and some salt.
Clean the water reservoir by filling it with a mixture of white vinegar and water. Let the iron steam for a few minutes. Pour out the mixture and rinse with clean water. Fill the reservoir with water, and use the steam iron on an old rag until the steam runs clear.
