Home Decorating Trends from Nature
Nature is set to take center stage in home decorating.
So says designers like Marilyn Lake, of theToronto-based architecture and design firm The Ideal Environment.
Colors are gravitating toward rich natural hues such as rusts, deep golds, umbers (defined as “a natural brown earth”, above) and sage green. Gardens are becoming more casual. Energy-efficient greeen (ie., environmentally-friendly) housing is becoming more popular.
Think natural, they say. Go for dark stained or painted woods, rough stone and colours seen throughout nature such as rust. A casual, easy-does-it style is the new watchword in gardening, while cottage country is becoming “green,” big-time.
Energy-efficient, green housing is a trend that has really taken off in cottage country recently, says Lee, adding that “there is a sense people want to safeguard the environment for future generations.”
