In his guest article, Jeff Wilson told us about the hottest trend in decks, and also how to care for these outdoor living areas. He mentioned Thompson’s Water Seal products that will help us have beautiful decks.

We are giving away a complete deck makeover kit from Thompson’s Water Seal! Here’s what the lucky lucky winner will get:
One (1) case each of Thompson’s Water Seal Heavy Duty Deck Wash and Thompson’s Water Seal Advanced Wood Protector (4 gallons in a case) in the winner’s choice of Natural (clear), Honey Gold, Natural Cedar, Rustic Red or Nutmeg Brown
This kit is enough to treat about 800 square feet of wood (the average deck is 200 square feet).

I used the remaining Thompsons I had on half of my deck last year and regrettably purchased Olympia for the remainder. You could see the difference immediately. Olympia left a very oily residue and very little water protection, no beading like the Thompson’s side. After one year, I actually think the wood was more damaged on the Olympia side than had I not treated at all.

I inherited our deck from the last owner of the house who had grand ideas but never seemed to get anything completely done! You have to see it to believe it, 5 acres and 3000 square feet of semi complete projects. This would at least get the deck finished for the summer!
