Dealing with Missing and Mismatched Socks
It’s one of the classic questions in laundry lore. Where do missing socks go?
Why do they go AWOL anyway? Every time I fold our laundry, there’s always a lonely sock in the pile. It used to drive me crazy dealing with these lonesome socks. What do I do with them!??!
I’ve resorted to simply stuffing them in the sock drawer. I figured that if we ever run out of paired socks, then we’ll just rummage around until we find two that match. They’ve got to be there somewhere, right?
I’m sure you can guess what happened. Our drawers started to get full of single socks waiting around for their partner to be found. So I found another solution, which works much better.
I now have a basket in the laundry room dedicated to housing those single socks. Whenever I find one, I just toss it in there and don’t think about it until the basket’s full. Then I take them all out and usually find sock pairs. Whatever is left is returned to the basket to wait some more.

i really don’t get why socks go missing! it’s not like the laundry eats them up right?
my solution - just buy one color and type for each family member. that way you always find a pair. ;-)

I try to do that too. But sometimes I can’t remember what kind we already have, so I end up buying different ones. :(

I think the sock bandits take them. Invisible munchkins that come in a night and steal just one sock.
I have a spot where I keep my “singles” and some have been there for a year or more. I can only assume thay are hiding in a parallel universe.

try looking in the vents & the hoses and if you are able-behind the drum. they usually end up there & can cause a fire.
