Combining Loads of Laundry

by Maricar on January 10th, 2008

laundry basketI know never to mix whites with darks. But according to Essortment.com, polyesters should also never be mixed with cotton, otherwise the fabrics will pill. Here are some more do’s and don’ts of mixing various types of laundry in one load:

DON’T mix heavy fabrics with lightweight ones.

DO wash synthetic fabrics separately from natural ones. Cotton synthetic blends should be washed with synthetics.

DO wash darks and brights separately and in cold water.

The following can also be mixed, as long as the colors are similar:

  • Jeans and dark towels
    Sheets and underwear
    Socks and towels
