Cleaning Tips: Cutting Boards, Pans, and Kettles

by Maricar on March 27th, 2008

Some more tips for National Cleaning Week:

Cutting Boards

Wash wood and plastic cutting boards with a scrubbing brush, dishwashing liquid and soap. Disinfect regularly with a solution of 1 part chlorine bleach and 10 parts water; rinse after disinfecting, then air dry on its side. To remove odors, rub the board with half a lemon dipped in salt.

Non-stick Pans

Wash with plastic scrubbers, dishwashing liquid and water. Remove stains by soaking the pan in a solution of 1 cup water, 1/2 cup chlorine bleach, and 2 tablespoons baking soda. Scrub as needed, and rinse.

Tea Kettles

Remove mineral deposits inside kettles with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Boil the solution in the kettle and allow to sit overnight before rinsing.
